Counselor/Therapist

Major Duties

• Provides screening, assessment, crisis intervention and referral services in response to telephone requests for aid; make assessment of clients’ needs, provide information about community resources, and refer clients to most appropriate resources.
• Gathers information through intake interviews; evaluates nature and degree of mental/emotional distress, substance use/abuse, health issues, and social/interpersonal problems; develops individual service plans with clients.
• Conducts short and long-term therapy and/or counseling sessions with individuals, couples, families and groups using various psychotherapeutic treatment modalities.
• Coordinates treatment with other agencies, services and other programs within the agency.
• Completes case notes on intake process, treatment plan and client’s progress in accordance with OI/OA guidelines.
• Provides consultation and education service to community groups by assisting in program planning, giving educational talks and lectures, and by consulting on specific cases.
• Maintains required productivity expectation.


Job Requirements:
• Licensed in the State of Ohio as an LSW or LPC is required, LISW or LPCC license is preferred. 
• Experience in assessment, crisis intervention, conducting long and short-term therapy and counseling or other experience in the treatment of mental health/chemical abuse are preferred.
• Must have strong oral and written skills. Basic computer skills required, including familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Must be highly skilled at behavioral health screening/assessment and counseling in both chemical abuse and mental illness, and making appropriate referrals.
