Clinical Social Worker

CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

Reports To: Director, Outpatient Services
Work Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00 PM (Variable)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Works with clinical staff members, mentors them and helps them hone their skills by focusing on ensuring that consumers are receiving the highest quality healthcare services possible. This position will afford the opportunity to serve the adult population diagnosed with mental health and/or substance use disorders served at the outpatient treatment site.  Provide direct services as needed to consumers to evaluate needs, link to resources/services, and help in identifying stability strategies.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
1.    Conduct assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, intervention/treatment, evaluation of outcomes and case management.
2.    Identifies appropriate resources to provide education to the patients, their families, and staff members.
3.    Helps ensure that the staff maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards.
4.    Counsels and trains newly hired clinical staff.
5.    The Clinical Social Worker assists in the administrative efficiencies through the medical service areas, and works closely with the Treatment Services Director
6.    Consults with and supports clinical staff in the efforts to serve consumers.
7.    Assists clinical workers in obtaining more education, additional certifications and helps them find ways to enhance their skills and improve their chances of career advancement.
8.    Helps improve communication among employees in a clinical environment.
9.    Assists in the planning and promoting of health programs for the community.
10. Implements some of the policies and procedures for Treatment Services.
11. Assist Director of Outpatient Services with new hires and will train clinical staff.
12. Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
13. Stays up to date on a plethora of factors that affect the performance of a healthcare facility including advancements in diagnostic equipment, newly approved medications, upgraded computer technology, new and amended government regulations and changes in health insurance products.
Attends interdepartmental meetings.
14. Identifies quality assurance and risk management issues and brings them to the attention of the appropriate managers.
15. Monitors the use of resources to determine when there is a need for additional staff.
16. Ensure compliance with fundamental case management protocols, policies, and procedures.
17. Attend educational programs, conferences, and workshops to improve existing job knowledge, broaden your horizon and obtain continued education.
18. Performs other duties as assigned to promote the overall mission and vision of CND and other areas deemed necessary by the Director, Outpatient Services and the VP/COO.
             
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education: Masters/Bachelor’s degree in human service or behavioral science with 5 years of experience in the field of mental health and/or substance use treatment. Independent License required.
 
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:   
1.    Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
2.    Must maintain CPR & First Aid Certification
3.    High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  1. Must be able to drive, have own transportation and transport consumers at times in own vehicle. 
  2. Must maintain professional licenses in a current status.
Computer Skills
Proficient in use of personal computer and related software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) use of office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, printer).
 
Other Requirements
Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license; must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
