Manager of Program Evaluation

The Manager of Program Evaluation is responsible for managing the evaluation components of the practices and projects of the Best Practices in Schizophrenia Treatment (BeST) Center. Collect and analyze data and provide reports, in a variety of formats, that evaluate the implementation, health outcomes, economic impact, and quality of life measures of the BeST Center practices. Meaningfully contribute to the selection of new or additional outcome measures and methods, as program needs may require, and develop and implement processes to collect the required data. Ensure the performance, integrity and security of the data management system. The Manager of Program Evaluation will work with minimum supervision and will collaborate with the Director of Practice Implementation and Evaluation; BeST Center consultants/trainers; and other partners within and outside of NEOMED. An eligible candidate may be considered for a non-tenure faculty appointment within the Department of Psychiatry.

Principal Functional Responsibilities
1) Develop, implement, and modify evaluation plans and metrics to assess program impact and inform continuous quality improvement
a. Collect, maintain, and analyze a variety of intervention and implementation outcome measures from individual programs and from larger, state-wide data sets
b. Conduct data analyses
c. Write reports and research briefings for dissemination to funders and stakeholder groups; participate in scholarly work for publication; and present results from research and evaluation activities at local, regional or national meetings
d. Ensure all evaluation information is collected and stored following methods that ensure integrity and security of data that complies with all university and agency regulations including IRB and HIPAA
2) Develop, test, and refine fidelity measures and methods (including onsite and remote methods)
3) Develop and support data-capture/data-management/data visualization systems and processes to further the BeST Center’s program evaluation needs
4) Manage workflow arising from diverse data reporting requests from BeST Center program area specialists and from community partners or funding entities.
5) Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education/Degrees: Doctorial degree in psychology, social work, other mental health services, epidemiology, public health, or statistics preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in program evaluation, research, and/or statistics, experience in evaluation of fidelity and outcomes related to implementation of evidence-based practices preferred. Experience with research, statistics, and presenting results in ways meaningful to a range of stakeholders. Ability to identify relevant academic literature, summarize key findings across multiple publications, and to implement data collection programs based on academic literature.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently; with multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of research and evaluation design, methods and statistics
  • Experience with technology and data systems
  • Possess working knowledge of data management, quality improvement tools and methods of data analysis and display sufficient to inform the work and roles of those in direct reporting relationships and provide expert coaching to others
  • Ability to provide presentations to the general public and stakeholders
  • Experience developing and conducting structured and semi-structured interviews
  • Knowledge of mental illness terminology
  • Willingness to travel to partner agencies in Ohio and outside Ohio
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office, and statistical software (e.g. SPSS). Working knowledge of data visualization software a plus
  • Comfort with videoconferencing and remote communications
  • Ability to comply with all university and agency regulations including IRB and HIPAA
  • Demonstrated evaluation and project management skills are required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of behavioral healthcare systems and evidence-based and emerging best practices for individuals with severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders
  • Must be highly organized, self-directed, results-oriented, innovative and flexible
