Math Teacher Position
Position Description:
Math Department- full-time instructor 2021-2022
Reports to: School Principal.
Mission: St. Edward High School, a Catholic School in the Holy Cross tradition, seeks to educate the minds and hearts of young men to have the competence to see and the courage to act as men of faith.
Goals: Saint Edward High School, an IB World School, encourages our students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners with international awareness.
Duties:
- Teaches full-time, including 5 periods, plus assigned duties
- Develops and delivers lesson plans that advance student’s theoretical and applied mathematical skills
- Follows course objectives of the St. Edward curriculum
- Works collaboratively with fellow teachers to design and provide authentic instruction and assessment
- Works with other departments to provide interdisciplinary support and to develop cross-curricular units
- Maintains classroom control and pupil behavior allowing everyone the opportunity to learn
- Communicates with counselors, learning professionals, parents and students to maintain a positive learning experience and identify any problems or difficulties
- Communicates with parents and students by posting lesson plans and grades on a regular and timely basis based on contract specifications
- Pursues continuing professional development field on a regular basis
- Maintains flexible hours within contract specifications, providing time before or after school for student’s individualized instruction, mentoring or guidance in independent projects
- Participates in other department and SEHS community activities related to our school’s Mission such as outreach, admissions, and the like
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics
- Proven successful high school math teaching
- The position requires VIRTUS certification which may be obtained once an offer of employment is made.
