Spring 2022 Mechanical Engineering Co-op
 
Summary
We are looking for an energetic Mechanical Engineering major to join our team as a Mechanical Engineering Co-op in Elyria, Ohio. This position will work within the Product R&D Centers of Excellence.
 
Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op, you will be responsible for:
  • Advanced Product Concept R&D
  • Test fixture design & fabrication, HW & SW
  • Product validation and troubleshooting in laboratory and vehicle environments
  • Oversee inventory, assembly and coordination of testing with technicians
  • Troubleshooting, debug, root cause analysis, resolve equipment reliability issues
  • Product phase reviews, product DFMEAs, project management
  • Special systems and modules design
  • Materials analysis and testing
  • CAD/CAE analysis and PLM systems
  • Product application development, road test, and customer demos
  • Manufacturing process support
  • Customer & supplier new product development and current support
  • Assist in translating customer requirements into new products
  • Oral and written communications of analytic results and creation of formal test reports
 
Requirements
  • Currently attending an accredited college or university 
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA or higher
  • Major in Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering with a dual major or minor in Electrical or Computer Engineering is preferred
  • Ability to work full-time 40 hours per week during the work term
  • Design Tools-Pro-Engineer, IDEAS/ NX Solid Modeling, TeamCenter PLM
  • Methods- FMEA, Six Sigma, 5S, Instrumentation
  • Analysis Tools - MATLAB, Minitab, Dasylab, AMESim
  • Computer Language: HTML/Visual Basic
  • Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic and simple electronic systems
  • Hands on skills with mechanical tools, shop equipment and trucks
  • Strong communication, organization and collaboration skills
  • Fluent English, German and Spanish are assets
  • Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, VISIO
