Stormwater Inspection and Maintenance Paraprofessional Intern

JOB SUMMARY
 This position will assist with various projects throughout the assignment, including, but not limited to, working with stormwater inspection staff to conduct field inspections of various stormwater assets and implement various stormwater maintenance projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Field Inspection Assistance - Work with stormwater staff to conduct field inspection of various stormwater assets (eg., streams, culverts, bridges, basins.
- Assist with conducting field inspections
- Utilize field equipment and collect data, as requested. 
- Assist with filling out field inspection forms (paper or electronic). 
- Assist with preparing, finalizing, and organizing field inspection forms, reports, and photos.
- Utilize the Sewer District's NEXGEN asset management system for data entry and conducting Work Order queries, as needed. 
- Utilize ESRI ArcGIS to create maps, complete data queries, or complete other related tasks as request. 
Maintenance Project Assistance - Work with the stormwater maintenance staff to implement various stormwater maintenance projects (e.g., sediment and debris removal, basin maintenance, and non-routine maintenance projects). 
- Assist with tracking maintenance projects
- Utilize field equipment and collect data, as request.
- Collect signed Right-of-Entry forms from property owners to support maintenance projects.
- Assist with filling out maintenance project forms (paper or electronic).
- Assist with preparing, finalizing, and organizing maintenance project reports and photos.
- Utilize the Sewer District's NEXGEN asset management system for data entry and conducting Work Order queries, as needed.
- Assist SWIM Green Infrastructure Workers by preforming vegetation management and trash removal at Sewer District green infrastructure sites, as needed
- Utilize ESRI ArcGIS to create maps, complete data queries, or complete other related tasks as request. 
Other Duties as Assigned - Provide additional administrative support or participate in meetings, as needed. 
- Attend general office meetings.
- Contact vendors to obtain equipment and material data. 
- Undergo safety and field-related training, as necessary. 
MINIMIM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Candidate must be enrolled in at least an Associates degree program, preferably in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Stormwater Management, Environment or Natural Sciences, or a related field of study
OR
- Candidate may be within 24 months of graduation from a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree program at the date of application. 
- ESRI ArcGIS experience is preferred but not required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS 
Candidate must be able to work 40 hours per Working hours are Monday - Friday during normal business hours. This is a temporary position.
- Candidate must be able to commit to up to a 12-month assignment with an option to extend the assignment at NEORSD's This internship program provides for a time-limited role at NEORSD with no express or implied guarantee of future employment beyond the assignment period. This position is governed by all applicable NEORSD administrative policies, practices and procedures related to temporary employees.
- The District requires protective footwear (i.e., steel or composite-toed) when working in the plants, pump stations, construction sites, public rights-of-way, and other posted New hires are required to have protective footwear, meeting the following criteria, on the first day of employment: 1) Must be ANSI Z41-1999 or ASTM F-2412/2413 (2005) certified, 2) Must have a steel or composite protective toe, 3) Must be, at a minimum, a 6" work boot or 6" hiker-style boot (Note: shoes are not permitted), 4) Must have a slip-resistant sole. It is also recommended, but not required, that footwear be waterproof and have included a shank to protect the bottom of the foot.
- Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record in accordance with the District's acceptable.
