Data Analyst Intern

Background
The New Growth Group, LLC (New Growth) is consulting firm focused on workforce and economic development. We provide Labor Market Analyses, Program Evaluations, Strategic Planning, and Grant Writing services to colleges and universities, K-12 schools, philanthropies, business groups, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations across the country. Our core belief is that communities thrive when businesses have access to a strong workforce and people have opportunities to advance in their careers.
We are looking for an intern to primarily support our Director of Data & Analytics. The individual would work on projects related to data collection, cleaning, visualization, and analysis. Projects vary, but primarily involve analyzing factors associated with regional growth or decline, or assessment of program impacts taking a variety of factors into consideration.

The individual should have a background in statistics, data, and/or quantitative analysis and interest in regional economics. Experience or familiarity with the messiness of real-world data is a plus.

The individual must be comfortable working in a small business, entrepreneurial environment. This means sometimes the individual will be required, along with everyone else, to do other-than-analytical work. This could include notetaking, report writing or editing, or pitching in with whatever the team needs to accomplish on a given day.

We envision that the individual could have a major in urban affairs or economics programs, with an interest in quantitative analytics and/or statistics; or could come from a mathematics or statistics program if they have a strong interest in workforce development. Other majors will be considered, but there should be strong evidence of familiarity with statistical analyses, data manipulation, or related outcomes.
