Student Guide

CMA Student Guide
The CMA Undergraduate Student Guide Program is an experiential training internship that enables college students to engage museum audiences by designing tours, guiding close-looking, engaging the public in conversations about art, and researching and writing art history. The Guides work to demonstrate how works of art are relevant to our current moment and explore how art reveals what we think, how we see, and how we live.
No experience with art or museums? Not to worry! From Agriculture to Zoology, the CMA welcomes students of all majors to learn how to understand the world and themselves through art and to help others do the same. As a CMA Student Guide, you will have the opportunity to explore the CMA’s permanent collection, deepen your knowledge of art history, and gain public speaking and writing skills. Additionally, Student Guides contribute to numerous educational projects across museum departments, so every year offers guides new challenges and exciting ways to share their skills and interests with CMA audiences.
This position requires a 2-year commitment and a time commitment of approximately 4 hours per week during the academic year. Requires participation in a CMA public program 1 Saturday per month (4 hours max).
