Become a Community Health Empowerment Navigator with CHANGE INC! Baldwin Wallace University, in partnership with the MetroHealth System's Institute for H.O.P.E. and Old Brooklyn CDC is hiring to complete our team of 12 that addresses food insecurity and health access inequities in the Clark Fulton and Old Brooklyn neighborhoods. You will identify and connect food insecure individuals to existing food, nutrition, health, and economic resources by becoming the link to food pantries, community gardens, education sessions, and social service referrals.

The positions at Old Brooklyn CDC involve advocacy, care coordination, community building, social service navigation, public health practice, and real world experience working to build community vitality and pathways to improved community health.



Benefits


Get paid!
  • Commit to an 11-month service commitment (September 6, 2022- July 31, 2023). Receive a stipend up to $8,736, distributed in equal payments every 2-weeks.
  • Upon successful completion of 900-service hours (approx. 20 hours/week), earn a Segal Education Award in the amount of $3,247.50 to be used towards tuition, student loans, or other education expenses. The education award can be saved up to 7 years.

  • Community Health Empowerment Navigator (CHEN) Certification from Baldwin Wallace's Center for Health Disparities Research and Education
  • Training in areas of public health specifically community nutrition assessment and referral service, COVID-19 contact tracing, and NIH/CITI ethical research training.

Minimum requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or GED, be a US Citizen, National, or Legal Permanent Resident
  • Willing to undergo and pass a criminal history background check
