Reports to – Engineering Manager
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The candidate may be required to work additional hours as needed.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
This position requires both Product and Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities which include but are not limited to assist with the development of JSI Engineering Department Standards, while collaborating with all of our departments to create detailed drawings which efficiently and effectively communicate design intent and to justify new projects by estimating costs and calculating ROI’s.
Essential Functions

- Work fluently with 2D AutoCAD & 3D Inventor, Microsoft Office & Monday.com.
- Follow all Safety guidelines including PPE, lock-out/tag-out & comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
- Maintain existing / create new Product Submittal, Design, and Quality & Assembly Drawings.
- Design New Products based on similar competitor products and Industry Standards.
- Perform Load Testing, Document & Publish Product Specifications & Load Data.
- Assist with Catalog & Web site Development.
- Design light and heavy-gauge metal stamping dies from concept to completion.
- Troubleshoot and optimize Progressive Die performance during start-up and production.
- Design Jigs and fixtures for high volume Robotic and lower volume Fabrication cells.
- Assist with the building/rebuilding, startup & optimization of new Equipment.
- Improve equipment Safety & Efficiency by utilizing LEAN techniques.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment, primarily in Niles, Ohio with occasional trips to Hubbard, Ohio. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is occasionally exposed to conditions such as dirt, grease and oil.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 5 pounds on a daily basis.
Travel
Limited travel may occasionally be required for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Associates Degree or Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting & Design, Industrial Engineering or a similar field of study.
- Excellent Mathematical, Organizational, Communication & Problem-solving skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with Stamping presses, Stamping Dies, Jigs & Fixtures, servo feeders, straighteners, and robots, welding, break presses, tappers, assembly automation, and baggers.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, Electrical Schematics, PLC’s, VFD’s, Servo Drives.
