Merger and Acquisitions Intern- Summer 2023 (Cleveland, OH)

Overview

As a Mergers and Acquisition Intern, you will gain an understanding of the prospecting and due diligence process for acquisitions.  The program will provide you with a broad understanding of the acquisition cycle from identifying potential acquisitions, tracking them through our CRM, performing due diligence, and completing the acquisition process. You will gain an overall understanding of M&A department operations.  
 
Specifically, you will learn how to analyze earn-out reports including EBITDA margins, revenue, net income, assets, liabilities, account receivables /payables, producer numbers, and evaluate an Agencies book of business. You will build valuable skills while working with a fast-paced team, understanding company risk appetites, and developing time management strategies.

Responsibilities

Please note that the duties below can vary based on the workflow of your local office.
  • Utilize company CRM to build out target lists. 
  • Identity details for potential acquisitions.
  • Have an active engagement in the M&A NDA stage, due diligence process and LOI process. 
  • Utilize market data to identify potential contacts and agency owners.  
  • Build out a strategy around email marketing campaigns.
  • Gather notes and keep records for department meetings. 
  • Call agencies to collect information needed for request lists.  
  • Tabulate and post data in appropriate customer contact system or in data base/spreadsheet.
  • Generate reports on leads and opportunities.
  • Follow company policies with respect to all essential duties and responsibilities. 
  • Other duties as assigned by superior personnel in the M&A process such as financial and legal teams.
  • Travel is expected to be negligible in this role.

Qualifications 

  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills
