Associate Engineer - Civil Intern

An Associate Engineer at Cleveland-Cliffs you will typically operate, maintain, upgrade, and purchase new equipment to produce steel products to satisfy our customers’ ever increasing product demands. The processes are complex and highly interactive. Technically skilled management is required to handle the production challenges of today and guide the business into future generations of steels and their competitive production.

Summary of Responsibilities
 
·        Identification and recommendation of the purchase, modification and improvement of varied equipment and facilities
·        Manage aspects of large cross-functional projects and be aware of costs, schedule, performance, and deliverables for projects assigned
·        Define the scope of the project and select team members from within and outside of their discipline
·        Lead the completion of engineering & design work related to the installation and retrofit of varied, complex equipment, infrastructure, and facilities
·        Ensure that advanced day-to-day equipment troubleshooting support is provided to Maintenance
·        Lead the development of standards, processes, and procedures within the department
·        Suggest recommendations for improvement and various other duties as needed to support the business
·        Other duties as assigned
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
·        Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent currently enrolled in school
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
·        Previous experience or internship/co-op in manufacturing
·        Excellent communication skills both oral and written with all layers of the organization
·        Excellent computer and problem-solving skills, and technical competence.
