The Role: Financial Operations Intern - Summer 2023

About the role: 
As an intern at Fund That Flip, you will play an integral role on our Accounting and Finance teams. You will be engaged in meaningful projects where you are challenged and empowered to contribute directly to the business. You'll work closely with our management team on special projects within the real estate lending market. You'll be given clear objectives and will be left to develop and implement your own strategies to execute. 

Between mid-May to mid-August, you’ll get the opportunity to experience a full-time office work environment, coming on-site for 30-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. 
Our internship program offers mentorship, shadowing, and meaningful projects where you will be challenged, encouraged and exposed to various facets of a start-up.  You will meet other students and have a chance to build a professional network, gain more experience, and learn every day!

Who You Are: 
  • A Junior or Senior in a 4-year university, preferably studying Accounting or Finance.
  • Exhibits excellent computer skills with an emphasis on MS Excel functions.
  • A strong communicator and leader with a track record of high performance. 
  • Demonstrates ability to have a high degree of attention to detail and self-awareness.
  • A proactive and critical thinker that utilizes decisive judgment with little oversight. 
  • A highly-organized individual comfortable working in a highly creative, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Maintain bank records and reconcile financial transactions across multiple systems. 
  • Perform detailed reconciliations of loan balances, interest accruals, and other items.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data to help drive decision making. 
  • Coordinate with finance, accounting, and capital markets staff.  

A Day in the Life: 
It's Monday morning, so you kick off your day with a daily stand up with the Accounting and/or Finance team. During this meeting, the team gathers and shares questions and barriers that have come up in their work, and also discusses their plan for the day. In addition to this meeting, the team consistently collaborates throughout the day. Asking questions, providing solutions, and sharing precedent or past experience to guide next steps. Throughout the day, you will focus on action items such as making accounting entries and performing reconciliations. You will collaborate with other team members and receive guidance when blockers arise.
