I thoroughly enjoyed the field experience. Getting to know the experiences of those who will one day use my products or designs is very helpful. I often hear of laborers complaining about the difficulties of some products. Knowing what they go through will be vital when I begin my own designs. I also enjoyed the company. All of the people who I worked with were very knowledgeable and great teachers. It was a pleasure to learn from them.
What I wish was different
I do wish I had more experience outside of the field. While the field experience is great I think that I could use some more time dealing with the engineering side of things. There is not as large a need for my type of engineering on this Job as most of the things we deal with are already designed. Our job is just installation. Other that that My time so far has been great.
Advice
I would advise engineers to get feedback from people who use their designs in the practical applicating phase of a product. Engineering is not just about creating something or having a design that works. It needs to be able to be implemented in a practical manner. People need to be able to troubleshoot if things go wrong so having a design that allows for an easier time accomplishing that is very important.
